For parents and children alike, the anticipation, anxiety, and excitement of a new school year are a range of emotions in which we all experience but did you know that the faculty, staff, and even the principal have the same encounter with these sentiments. As veteran and budding Blue Jays enter our campus in early August, they will be greeted by a new set of smiling faces – our new Administrative Team. We are pleased to welcome Mr. Chris Porche as our School Principal, Ms. Allyson LaBorde as the Upper School Assistant Principal, and Ms. Kristy Monsour as the Lower School Assistant Principal.
Mr. Chris Porche served as Vice Principal for Student Life at OLOM School before recently accepting the role as principal.
A native of Baton Rouge and the product of Catholic education, Mr. Porche attended St. Pius X Elementary School and Redemptorist High School.
He has served the mission of Catholic education at his high school alma mater since 1985, and for the past 27 years, generously served in various roles which include Theology teacher and Department Chair, Director of Campus Ministry, Business Teacher, Director of Alumni Relations and Director of Development. He has also been extremely committed to mentoring students through coaching baseball, football, basketball, track and golf.
Mr. Porche earned his B.S. in Management and Administration from LSU in 1984, his Advanced Catechist Certification from St. Joseph Seminary College in 1997, and his M.Ed in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix in 2011.
He and his wife, Belinda, have been married 34(+) years. They have two children, Brent and Kayla, and four grandsons, Braiden, Emmitt, Owen, and Noah.
Ms. Allyson LaBorde is an accomplished educator with 13 years teaching experience, most recently at
St. Luke’s Episcopal Day School and before that
St. Thomas More Catholic School, both of Baton Rouge. Ms. LaBorde has held diverse roles as an educator including curriculum committee member, moderator of extra-curricular activities, and teaching a variety of subjects in an ability grouped setting. In addition to her commitment to education, Ms. LaBorde is also an active member in local service organizations including Chi Omega Sorority as the New Member Advisor and the Junior League of Baton Rouge. Allyson has been a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church since 2009.
Ms. Kristy Monsour is a seasoned educator with 16 years experience; the past 8 years committed to Our Lady of Mercy School. Kristy has served in a variety of roles at Our Lady of Mercy School with increasing participation in the leadership of the school community. Currently she serves as Mercy’s Student Services Coordinator working with students and families needing advanced resources or additional support. She created and manages the after-school STEAM Program; created and administers the screening tools used for new applicants; and serves as part of the Student Success Team. Kristy and her husband Marron are parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and have three children who attend Mercy School.
