Rosary Prayer Group with the Elderly ~ Pace Ministry

PACE Baton Rouge (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a non-profit health and supportive services program designed to assist seniors who want an alternative to long-term care placement. PACE is sponsored by the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, and the LA Dept of Health and Hospitals. The mission of PACE Baton Rouge is to enable the aging population to live with dignity in their communities.

Our Lady of Mercy visits once a week to pray the Rosary and bring the Eucharist to the Catholic seniors at PACE. Mercy volunteers visit on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 am. There are anywhere from 8 – 12 seniors who participate, some are not able to verbally recite rosary with the group, but do what they can.

We are currently in need of volunteers to help with this ministry. Ideally there are four teams of 2 people who rotate each month, however the ministry is happy to accommodate more volunteers who are willing to participate.

The seniors appreciate the weekly visits of the volunteers and look forward to praying the Rosary and receiving Holy Communion. Please prayerfully consider giving your time to bring Christ’s love to the elderly. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Ms. Peppy Root (225) 978-0475 or Ms. Nancy Savoy (225) 892-4398.
