Mercy Alive

From July 10th through July 14th, Our Lady of Mercy choir member and cantor, Molly Toups, had the opportunity to work as an intern at the 40th annual convention of the National Association for Pastoral Musicians (NPM) in Cincinnati, Ohio. During this week, she was able to learn about various aspects of music ministry and connect with pastoral musicians from around the country.

Growing up in the church, music ministry has always been an important part of her life. She joined the Children’s Choir at Our Lady of Mercy when she was in the third grade, and has been singing at Mercy ever since. Today she participates as a member of the Chancel Choir and a cantor. Molly has always loved music, and feels incredibly blessed to be able to serve God and the Church through this ministry.

This was her second year as an intern to attend the NPM convention. The convention offers a college internship program for young pastoral musicians. The program takes 10-15 applicants from around the country. Interns work throughout the convention to set up for various breakout sessions and music showcases throughout the week. She had the privilege to work with eleven other college interns throughout the week and learn about their own experiences in music ministry. Molly is pictured above with a group of convention participants.
