Each year, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School seeks to recognize a deserving candidate from our school family to be the recipient of the Mother Seton Award. The Mother Seton Award was created to honor those individuals whose volunteer service and dedication to home, school, and church have been exemplary.
Ms. Dawn Beale, our 2017 Mother Seton Award recipient, is an alumna of Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee and grew up in New Roads, Louisiana. The Beale family officially became Mercy Blue Jays when oldest son Brandon started Pre-K 14 years ago.
Suited with a “yes” attitude, Dawn is always willing to join a committee that benefits her church and school. In her time here at Mercy she has served as a cafeteria helper, Come Lord Jesus facilitator, school board member, a church nursery volunteer, as the $10,000 raffle chair, helped with Grandparents Day, assisted the Fair and Auction Committees, as a room mom and partner parent, with Mercy Athletics, and as a VBS volunteer, among various other church and school volunteer roles.
Dawn is married to Bryan Beale and together they have four boys – Brandon (a junior at Catholic High School), Thomas (a freshman at Catholic High School), Jonathan (7th grader at OLOM School), and Daniel (5th grader at OLOM School).
The Our Lady of Mercy community is pleased to name Ms. Dawn Beale as this year’s recipient of the Mother Seton Award. Ms. Beale was honored at a reception in late April along with other Diocesan Mother Seton Award winners. Ms. Beale’s character is the personification of our school’s motto, “Prayer, Knowledge, and Service,” for parishioners, parents, faculty, staff, and students. The Mercy Community is pleased to recognize this very deserving Christian woman, who is rooted in strong Catholic values, and has a selfless, humble dedication to our parish.
