“Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God’s mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.”
CCC 1422
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is truly a beautiful and healing gift of our faith.
Requirements: In order for a child to receive First Reconciliation at Our Lady of Mercy Church, first and foremost, the child must be a baptized parishioner. As such, the child must be preparing for this Sacrament through our Parish School of Religion, or through Our Lady of Mercy School.
In addition to the child’s sacramental catechism classes, we have a Mandatory Parent’s Meeting (for parents only) to ensure that each child is also receiving the proper preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation at home.
