ASH WEDNESDAY MASS SCHEDULE
Ash Wednesday, March 2nd – Day of Fast and Abstinence
6:30 am
8:00 am
12:00 noon
6:00 pm
Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten Season, is observed six and one half weeks before Easter. It is a day of fast and abstinence when ashes are blessed and imposed on the foreheads of the faithful to remind us of our obligation to do penance of sins, to seek spiritual renewal by means of prayer, fasting, good works and by bearing with patience the trials and difficulties of everyday life. The ashes are used to mark the forehead with the Sign of the Cross, with the reminder: “Remember you are dust, and to dust you will return.”
Ashes will be distributed at the end of each Mass.
MERCY MEN’S ACTS RETREAT
An ACTS Retreat is a parish-based event which offers parishioners an opportunity to experience the love of Jesus Christ through a retreat experience that begins on a Thursday evening and ends with Sunday Mass in the parish. The ACTS Retreat meets people where they are in their spiritual journey and invites them to experience God in a manner that is both personal and communal.
Throughout the weekend, participants are invited to prayerfully consider how they can respond to God’s love through the pillars of the apostolate: Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service.
This experience is an opportunity for spiritual renewal and the making of many friends. Fr. Cleo invites you to prayerfully consider joining a group of women/men from our parish to make this spiritual retreat at The Solomon Retreat Center in Loranger, LA. The cost of the retreat is $275 per double occupancy room for Mercy parishioners and $350 for non-parishioners.
Men’s Retreat – departs Mercy on Thursday, May 12th and returns for noon Mass at Mercy on Sunday, May, 15th.
